BLET Arizona State Legislative Board Chairman Kevin Onnembo was on hand earlier this month as Governor Katie Hobbs signed a new bill into law that enforces harsher penalties for assaulting railroaders, bus drivers, and other transportation workers.
“It is now a felony to assault any transportation employee in Arizona,” said Brother Onnembo regarding Assault Bill 2742. “It used to be a ticket and a court date.”
He said the BLET worked with Dawn Schumann, Teamsters State Political Director in Arizona, Arizona House Rep. Consuelo Hernandez (D-21), and other transportation unions to support the bill’s passage.
