The BLET Education & Training Department hosted a hybrid training class for LM-2 filers last week, with Secretary-Treasurers participating both in person at the BLET National Division Training Center and virtually via Zoom.
The workshop was geared toward Secretary-Treasurers who file the U.S. Department of Labor’s annual LM-2 report on behalf of their General Committee of Adjustment, Local Division, or State Legislative Board. Leading the class were David Estes, National Secretary-Treasurer, Megan Mead, Director of the Record and Compliance Department, and Walt Schmidt, Director of the BLET Online Services Department. Also present were Luke Myers, Director of Bylaws Administration, Rich Bartela, Special Representative/Auditor, and Kimm Bunch, Government Relations Specialist.
Participants received a detailed review of best practices for preparing the LM-2 report and were given a behind-the-scenes preview of the new payroll reporting that is expected to go live for all subordinate units later this year. Additionally, considerable time was spent reviewing the new Engage communications application and the ongoing efforts to improve the existing BLET membership reporting system.
