INDEPENDENCE, Ohio, March 10 — Members of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) employed by the Springfield Terminal Railway Company (ST) (an affiliate of Pan Am Railways) today ratified a New York Dock Implementing Agreement with the ST and Pittsburgh and Shawmut Railroad LLC d/b/a Berkshire & Eastern Railroad (B&E) (a subsidiary of Genesee and Wyoming). The agreement governs approximately 60 members.

As part of CSX’s acquisition of Pan Am Railways, B&E will operate Pan Am Southern under the B&E name. The Pan Am Southern consists of about 425 miles of rail lines and trackage rights routes, including main lines between Ayer, Massachusetts, and Albany, New York, that provide both CSX and Norfolk Southern Railroad (NS) access to the Boston area via its so-called Patriot Corridor.

The Implementing Agreement addresses changes in operations resulting from the transaction and applies protective conditions. In addition, the implementing agreement sets forth the process to divide the workforce between Springfield Terminal (ST) and Berkshire and Eastern (B&E) and defines the limits of the railroads after the Change Over Date.

The BLET’s negotiating team consisted of General Chairman Kevin Moore, Vice General Chairman Matt Lafrenier, and Division 112 Local Chairman Nick Paige, along with assistance from National Vice President Randy Fannon and retired National Vice President Mike Twombly.

BLET National President Eddie Hall thanked Brother Moore and the negotiating team for their dedicated efforts on behalf of the membership.
