BLET representatives met this week for a second time with new NJ Transit CEO Kris Kolluri in an effort to reach a voluntary resolution to the lengthy contract dispute. This follows an initial meeting on January 30. BLET and NJ Transit are in the midst of a 60-day “cooling off period” in accordance with the Railway Labor Act, with a deadline of midnight on March 21 to settle the dispute. If a settlement is not reached by that time, either party is then free to engage in self-help starting at 12:01 am on March 22, including a strike or lockout, unless blocked by new federal legislation passed by Congress and signed by President Trump that imposes a contract on NJ Transit engineers before March 22.
