INDEPENDENCE, Ohio, November 14 — Ballots are being mailed today, November 14, to eligible members regarding BLET’s tentative agreement with the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR), BLET National President Dennis R. Pierce announced.

Online voting will be conducted by TrueBallot, Inc., and ballots are due by 3:00 p.m. E.T. on Wednesday, December 7. Members can vote using the unique QR code on each ballot, or by going online and using the private PIN found on the ballot.

Members who have not received a ballot by Monday, November 28, should request a replacement by calling the BLET National Division at (216) 241-2630, ext. 235.  When connected with the extension, please leave the following information:

  • your name, address and phone number;
  • the division to which you belong;
  • the railroad for which you work;
  • the date you were promoted to locomotive engineer;
  • your date of birth;
  • the last four digits of your Social Security Number; and
  • your email address.

All replacement ballots will be distributed via email.  Therefore, members who do not leave a voicemail with their email address will not receive a replacement ballot.

The BLET represents more than 500 members who work for the LIRR and belong to Division 269 in Long Island, New York. They are represented by the LIRR General Committee of Adjustment.

“I encourage all LIRR engineers to cast their ballots to make their voices heard in this most important exercise in union democracy,” President Pierce said.
