INDEPENDENCE, Ohio, February 14 — The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) today mailed ballots to about 60 members employed by the Springfield Terminal Railway Company (ST) (an affiliate of Pan Am Railways) regarding a tentative New York Dock Implementing Agreement reached with the ST and Pittsburgh and Shawmut Railroad LLC d/b/a Berkshire & Eastern Railroad (B&E) (a subsidiary of Genesee and Wyoming).

As part of CSX’s acquisition of Pan Am Railways, B&E will operate Pan Am Southern under the B&E name. The Pan Am Southern consists of about 425 miles of rail lines and trackage rights routes, including main lines between Ayer, Massachusetts, and Albany, New York, that provide both CSX and Norfolk South Railroad (NS) access to the Boston area via its so-called Patriot Corridor.

The tentative Implementing Agreement addresses changes in operations resulting from the transaction and applies protective conditions. In addition, the implementing agreement sets forth the process to divide the workforce between Springfield Terminal (ST) and Berkshire and Eastern (B&E) and defines the limits of the railroads after the Change Over Date.

Ballots are due by March 10, 2023. Members who are eligible and have not received a ratification packet by Wednesday, March 1, should call the BLET National Division at (216) 241-2630, ext. 222. When connected with the extension, please leave the following information:
