U.S. Representative Dina Titus (D-NV), who has a history of supporting rail workers, spoke out in favor of two-person train crews and the need to pass important rail safety legislation during a January 23 hearing, titled, “America Builds: Examining America’s Freight and Passenger Rail Network.”
Rep. Titus, the Ranking Member of the House Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials, said during her opening remarks: “I want to see this Committee pass rail safety legislation. I am glad the previous Administration finalized a two-person crew requirement, which I have long advocated for. I am encouraged to see DOT nominee Sean Duffy indicate his support for the requirement during his confirmation hearing last week, and I hope to work with the new Administration to get rail safety legislation that contains numerous important safety improvements across the finish line this Congress.”
