Twenty-five BLET families have been awarded scholarships by the James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship Fund for the 2024 school year, including seven $10,000 scholarship winners. The $10,000 awards are the highest honor bestowed by the Hoffa Scholarship Fund.

In 2024, the JRHMSF awarded $1.2 million in academic and vocational/training programs. The fund awards $10,000 academic and $1,000 “bootstrap” academic scholarships plus awards to students pursuing vocational/training programs, which range from $500-$2,000 depending on financial need.

$10,000 scholarship winners are:

  • William Sundvor, child of John Sundvor, Division 175 (CN).
  • Lainee Partin, child of Shannon Partin, Division 542 (CSXT).
  • Megan Griffey, child of Michael Griffey, Division 401 (NS).
  • Kian Magas, child of Matthew Magas, Division 65 (Transit America Services).
  • Coleman Lambirth, child of Aaron Lambirth, Division 314 (CSXT).
  • Lacie Rusk, child of Brandon Rusk, Division 172 (BNSF).
  • Gavin Jerigan-Puett, child of Jesse Byars, Division 197 (UP).

$1,000 scholarship winners are: 

  • Evan Haught, child of Paul Haught, Division 325 (NS).
  • Christopher Marlow, child of Steven Marlow, Division 458 (BNSF).
  • Emma Mills, child of Benjamin Mills, Division 548 (NS).
  • Addisyn Muhr, child of Brett Muhr, Division 622 (BNSF).
  • Rose Valdez, child of James Garrett, Division 98 (BNSF).
  • Kynley Verdict, child of Dennis Verdict, Division 81 (UP).

Now accepting applications for 2025:
The James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship Fund is now accepting applications for the 2025 award year. The Fund awards scholarships to the sons, daughters and financial dependents of Teamster members (including members of the BLET). Eligible students must be high school seniors. Details on the application process can be found on the JRHMSF website. The deadline is March 1, 2025.
