Brother Kristian (Kris) Melone, a BNSF locomotive engineer and member of BLET Division 504 (Great Falls, Mont.), was elected to his first term as Chairman at the Montana State Legislative Board’s quadrennial meeting on August 14-15, 2024. He has served as the State Board’s Secretary-Treasurer since 2012. Brother D.B. Kenner, who served as Chairman for the past 12 years, chose not to seek reelection as he nears retirement.
Also elected by acclamation were: 1st Vice Chairman Paul Slater, Division 232 (Laurel, Mont.); 2nd Vice Chairman Les Gordon, Division 262 (Missoula, Mont.); and Secretary-Treasurer Robert Davison, Division 499 (Whitefish, Mont.). A member of Division 195 (Forsyth, Mont.), Brother Kenner was elected to serve as Alternate Secretary-Treasurer.
Elected to serve as Trustees were: Paul Slater, Division 232 (Laurel, Mont.); Les Gordon, Division 262 (Missoula, Mont.); and Patrick Parks, Division 298 (Glasgow, Mont.).
The Montana State Legislative Board represents nearly 1,200 active and retired members from nine BLET Divisions.
