CHICAGO — More than 100 people turned out at a public forum on the North Side this evening to view plans to rebuild bridges and embankments along Metra’s Union Pacific North Line.
Comments from residents were generally positive about the project, and people expressed appreciation that they were afforded the opportunity to see close-up details of the proposed bridge rebuilding as well as renderings of new landscaping along streets adjacent to the UP North tracks.
“It’s an improvement, no question about it,” said Joe Hayes, owner of several commercial properties along the UP North. “They’re spending a lot of money.”
