Congresswoman Dina Titus (D-Nevada) will serve as the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials in the 119th Congress. The subcommittee, which is a part of the Committee on Transportation & Infrastructure, has jurisdiction over the economic and safety regulation of railroads. Titus is a name BLET members may recognize as the Congresswoman was a guest speaker at the BLET’s last national convention in 2022.
In her time in Congress and as a member of the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee, Rep. Titus has been a leader in supporting rail workers. That leadership includes her championing of key rail safety issues like train crew size, the advancement of high-speed rail, Amtrak funding, ending sequestration of Railroad Retirement Board benefits, and her support for paid sick leave for Class I freight rail workers.
