Former Oregon Congresswoman Lori Chavez-DeRemer was confirmed on March 10 to serve as U.S. Secretary of Labor. She is the daughter of a Teamster and has the strong backing of Teamsters General President Sean O’Brien.

“Lori Chavez-DeRemer will do an excellent job leading the U.S. Department of Labor,” President O’Brien said. “We are committed to fighting alongside her to protect the working class and strengthen our nation by putting workers first. Chavez-DeRemer earned support on both sides of the aisle, highlighting her ability to bridge divides and serve all Americans effectively. There is no doubt Chavez-DeRemer is the best person for the job. We were proud to stand with her from the start.”

A bipartisan coalition of Senators confirmed her appointment by a vote of 67-32. “As promised, I’ll work tirelessly to put American Workers First by fighting for good-paying jobs, safe working conditions, and secure retirement benefits,” Chavez-DeRemer said.
