A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 19, to honor the two Union Pacific workers who were killed in last month’s train derailment in Pecos, Texas. The ceremony is open to the public and will be held at the West of the Pecos Museum at 4:00 p.m. (120 E. Stafford St., Pecos, TX 79772).

Killed in the December 18 derailment were locomotive engineer Clay Burt, a member of BLET Division 212 (Sweetwater, Texas), and conductor Phillip Araujo, a member of SMART-TD. Brother Burt, 63, is survived by his wife, three children, and nine grandchildren. Conductor Araujo, 47, is survived by his wife and three children.

The January 19 ceremony is called “United in Love and Remembrance: A Tribute to Those We’ve Lost.”
