The Railroad Retirement Board (RRB) recently ruled in favor of Ohio employees formerly working on a segment of CSX track known as the Walker-Wilsonburg Line, granting the workers the rights to regain lost Railroad Retirement credits.

Railroad Retirement benefits to see significant rise in 2023
Cost-of-living increases are calculated in both the tier I and tier II portion of a railroad retirement annuity. Tier I benefits, like social security benefits, will increase by 8.7 percent, which is the percentage of the CPI rise. This is the largest increase since 1981, when it was 11.2 percent. Tier II benefits will go up by 2.8 percent, which is 32.5 percent of the CPI increase.
Railroad retiree earnings limits will increase in 2023
Railroad retirement annuitants subject to earnings restrictions can earn more in 2023 without having their benefits reduced due to increased limits indexed to average national wage increases.
