CLEVELAND, May 24 — Two crew members have been killed and two others injured when two CSX freight trains collided today in Mineral Springs, N.C. The crew members have not been identified.

According to preliminary reports from the Associated Press, a fire started when one train rear-ended the other, forcing the evacuation of five nearby homes. The AP reported that one crew member died at the scene while the other was pronounced dead at a Charlotte hospital.

The BLET has deployed its Safety Task Force to help in the accident investigation. Division 121 member Kimble Jackson, a Primary Investigator with the BLET Safety Task Force, is en route to the scene.
