BUCKSPORT, Maine — No one was injured Thursday morning when a couple of cars from a freight train derailed at the International Paper Co. mill, the Bangor Daily News reported.
Two cars of the train came off the track at about 11:15 a.m. just north of the main entrance to the mill, leaving several other cars blocking the mill entrance, according to IP spokeswoman Kelly McFarlane.
The cars still on the track were uncoupled, and the entrance was cleared within 10 minutes, she said.
The freight cars were carrying paper products, McFarlane said.
Guilford Rail Systems, which owns the tracks, usually sends a crane to put the cars back on the tracks, she said.
There was no information available Thursday about what caused the accident. Officials from Guilford in Massachusetts were not available for comment late Thursday afternoon.
