CHICAGO — Area residents have an extra two weeks to comment to the federal government on the possible sale of the EJ&E Railway to the Canadian National Railway.
After numerous requests from residents, including many from the Naperville and Aurora areas, the Surface Transportation Board has extended the public comment period until Friday, Feb. 15.
“We had a number of requests,” said Victoria Rutson, chief of the section of environment analysis for the STB. “It does extend the time (line) a couple of weeks, but it still is fairly early into the environmental review process.”
The scope of study determines what general issues the STB needs to look at in the Environmental Impact Statement, Rutson said.
