WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Association of American Railroads sued the Surface Transportation Board this week over its final on-time performance rule for passenger trains. The freight railroads’ main lobby argues that the rule, which would define an Amtrak train’s timeliness based on when it pulls into all stops on its itinerary and not just at the endpoint, is an overreach by STB into FRA and Amtrak’s territory to set performance parameters.
