WASHINGTON, D.C. — The ACLU of Maryland is threatening legal action against the Maryland Transit Administration for allegedly ordering an Oregon man and a second photographer not to take pictures of its trains, buses and transit systems, The Baltimore Sun reports.

The Sun notes that taking pictures of infrastructure systems has become a point of contention over security risks since 9/11.

The newspaper says a spokesman for the MTA had no immediate comment on the letter, but noted that it is MTA policy to urge people who want to photograph MTA facilities to ask permission first.
