ALBANY, N.Y. — The New York Chapter of the American Public Works Association has named the new Rensselaer Rail Station its Project of the Year for structures.

The award goes to the Albany, N.Y.-based Capital District Transportation Authority, which managed the multi-million-dollar project to replace the old Amtrak station nearby.

The award is intended to recognize management agencies that excel in working with consultants and contractors, according to the authority.

The project was nominated for the statewide honor by the Capital Branch of the New York chapter.

The new station opened in September and is the 11th busiest in the country, with a ridership growth rate of 5 to 10 percent annually.
