CLEVELAND, November 16 — The BLET National Division has recently received several questions from members after they were contacted by representatives of American Income Life Insurance Company (AIL).

American Income Life is a 100 percent union insurance company that gives members access to a program that will provide several benefits that are at no cost to the union or to the individual members.

Each BLET member automatically receives $1,000 of accidental death and dismemberment insurance coverage. Their family members also receive the same coverage — $500 for spouses and $250 for each child. BLET members and their families also have access to a health discount card that can give them up to 60 percent off of health related services, and they can also receive child safe identification kits, which include fingerprinting and photo identification for young children. These programs are all available to BLET members at no cost.

American Income Life also provides supplemental life insurance programs that are voluntary if a member is interested. American Income Life has sent out mailings to all BLET members that explain the “no cost” benefits and also let the member know that they may be eligible for supplemental benefits.

Members who wanted to learn more about the supplemental programs filled out yellow cards that were enclosed with the letter. Those yellow cards were sent to American Income Life. Their representatives used the information from the yellow cards to contact the member and walk them through the different programs.

If the member does not have an interest and does not want to fill out a card, no one will contact them. Regardless, all BLET members are covered under the “no cost” accidental death and dismemberment insurance policy, which is issued as a free benefit to BLET members and their families.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the benefits, please contact Renee Flannery of American Income Life at 1-800-686-0042.
