WASHINGTON, D.C. — Amtrak says rail service between Washington, New York and Boston will resume Friday following the massive snowstorm that inundated the Northeast.

The severe winter weather, along with downed trees and power lines, caused alterations and cancellations of many Amtrak services Thursday.

Major routes should be operating at full service Friday, and all of the services affected by weather should be back in full operation by Saturday, Amtrak announced in a release.

Full service will resume Friday on the Acela Express between Washington, New York and Boston; Keystone Service between Harrisburg, Philadelphia and New York; and Empire Service between Niagara Falls, Albany and New York, the company said.
