WASHINGTON, D.C. and CLEVELAND, July 20 — Amtrak and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) have reached tentative agreement on a labor contract covering Amtrak’s 1,300 locomotive engineers who operate the national passenger railroad’s trains throughout its 21,000-mile, 46-state route system.
Details of the tentative pact will be sent to the affected BLET members for their review and ratification vote during the next several weeks. Details of the tentative contract will be withheld from public release until the ratification process has begun.
