PORT KENT, N.Y. — A Canadian-Pacific freight train left its tracks at 1 a.m. Saturday near Port Kent, N.Y., causing Amtrak delays throughout the Adirondak region.

Repair crews had to close the line and Amtrak was forced to bus passengers between Albany and Montreal Sunday. Amtrak said it hopes to have the line operating normally Monday.

An Amtrak train on its way to Montreal hit and killed a pedestrian in the Capital Region Sunday night.

Authorities are withholding the identity of the victim until the next of kin is notified. Police said they believe the accident in Colonie was an attempted suicide.
