CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — An Amtrak feasibility study of passenger rail service from Quad Cities to Iowa City will be released on Friday.

The study was conducted on behalf of the Iowa Department of Transportation and looked at the feasibility of passenger rail service from the Quad Cities to Iowa City on a route originating in Chicago.

The results will be released at a new conference at 10 a.m. Friday at the University of Iowa Memorial Union in Iowa City.

Following the news conference, the Iowa DOT will post a copy of Amtrak’s report on its Web site.

Amtrak representatives will also be available to answer questions about the study.
