It all began Friday when John Lee, a Seattle attorney, decided he wanted to propose to his girlfriend Sarah Kaufmann-Fink, a Tacoma nurse, on an Amtrak train from Seattle to Centralia.

The train has a special meaning for the couple, who met at the University of Washington and had been dating for seven years.

Kaufmann-Fink, 27, was attending nursing school at the UW and Lee, 28, was enrolled at law school at the University of Oregon in Eugene. They would board the train in their respective cities and meet in Centralia for the weekend.

So last week, Lee met the train conductor and planned an elaborate event to propose to Sarah on the ride to Centralia. The conductor gave them their own car and Lee decorated a table with candles, flowers and a bottle of Champagne.

The complete story is on the Seattle Times website.
