WASHINGTON — High school students and their parents can get a deal on Amtrak tickets if they take the train on college search trips.

The passenger railroad has announced a new buy-one-get-one-free program for prospective college students.

High school juniors and seniors can purchase a ticket for the regular price and bring a parent or guardian along free. To get the discount, students must log on to campus-visit-dot-com-slash-amtrak.

The offer is not valid for the Acela Express or the Auto Train.
