WASHINGTON, D.C. — Amtrak is installing Wi-Fi hot spots at five train stations on the Northeast corridor to give train passengers access to wireless Internet service for the first time.

The service will be provided by T-Mobile and will be available at Union Station in Washington, Baltimore’s Penn Station, Wilmington’s station in Delaware, Philadelphia’s 30th Street Station and New York’s Penn Station.

Spokeswoman Tracy Connell says some locations of the Club Acela first-class lounge had wireless, but this will be the first time it has been made available throughout the stations.

Matt Hardison of Amtrak’s customer service office says reliable, secure wireless Internet access is one of the amenities most frequently requested by Amtrak’s customers.
