GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Amtrak is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its Pere Marquette service between Grand Rapids and Chicago with a special run.

Events are planned at stations in Grand Rapids, Holland, Bangor and St. Joseph on Wednesday morning. Amtrak and Michigan transportation officials, government leaders and others are expected for the events.

There will be a chance to win free round-trip tickets at stops.

The Pere Marquette service has grown every year since 2001, but officials say ridership is down this year because of the weak economy.
