BISMARCK, N.D. — Amtrak says it is resuming service between St. Paul, Minn., and Fargo on its Empire Builder passenger train but will have to detour around three other North Dakota cities due to flooding.
Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari said the detour route between Minot and Fargo will not stop in Grand Forks, Devils Lake or Rugby.
Service will resume to Staples and Detroit Lakes, Minn.
Amtrak uses the BNSF Railway tracks for its Empire Builder train between Chicago and the Pacific Northwest. BNSF spokesman Gus Melonas said the railroad had to suspend service in eastern North Dakota and western Minnesota last week because of flooding on the tracks.
