ATLANTA — The Amtrak Crescent, which serves Gainesville, scored the smallest increase in ridership last year among passenger trains serving but the biggest revenue gain, according to figures released by the Georgia Association of Railroad Passengers (GARP).
Ridership on the Crescent for the fiscal year ending September 30 increased 4.4 percent, while the revenue gain was up 5.5 percent.
The biggest gain in ridership was on the New York-to-Savannah Palmetto, 7.5 percent.
The Crescent stops twice-a-day in Gainesville, Toccoa and Atlanta on its runs between New York and New Orleans.
