GALESBURG, Ill. — Figures released by the Illinois Department of Transportation show state-supported Amtrak routes are continuing to see a boom in popularity. Ridership increased almost 85 percent between 2006 and 2011 on the four corridors with state-sponsored service. During that period, there was an increase of 87.7 percent in ridership on the Chicago-to-Quincy corridor.
