PHILADELPHIA — Passengers holding Amtrak Smart Pass discount tickets for the Northeast Corridor will see their fares increased starting next month, the railroad said yesterday.
The fares will be increased by 10 percent for the approximately 2,000 Smart Pass monthly passengers, most of whom commute between New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. The Smart Pass discount will be adjusted from 60 percent to 50 percent of full fare beginning Feb. 16. Fares vary, depending on destinations. Passes purchased before Feb. 16 are still available at the current 60 percent discount, and passengers may buy passes up to three months in advance.
