SANFORD, Fla. — Amtrak is building a new Auto Train station in Florida.

The company broke ground for the new $10 million station Monday. It will be in the same location as the current building in Sanford. During construction passengers will be able to wait for the train in a tent. When the new station is finished it will be about four times the size of the current building.

Last year some 235,000 passngers traveled on the Auto Train, which takes passengers and their vehicles to the Washington D.C. area. The autotrain has operated between Sanford and Lorton, Va., since 1983.

The new station is scheduled to be complete in the fall of 2010.
