WASHINGTON — More Acela Express trains are about to go into service along the nation’s East Coast.

Starting next Monday, Amtrak will operate 12 weekday roundtrips between Washington and New York and three weekday roundtrips between Boston, New York and Washington.

Earlier this year, Amtrak was operating 15 round trips a day.

Amtrak said more trains will gradually return to service in the coming months.

The Acelas were pulled from service in April when cracks were discovered in many of the trains’ brake discs. Since then the entire fleet has been getting new brakes.
