WASHINGTON — Amtrak said on Friday it would restore full Acela Express service between New York and Boston this week for the first time since the high-speed trains were idled by a mechanical problem this summer, reports Reuters.

The railroad said it would offer nine daily weekday round-trips beginning on Monday.

Amtrak will continue to offer partial Acela service between New York and Washington as some trains are still undergoing repairs.

The rail service suspended its popular Acela service along the Northeast Corridor in August after cracks were found on suspension system brackets.

Acela manufacturer, Montreal-based Bombardier(Toronto:BBDb.TO – News), developed a temporary plan for addressing the problem and continues to work on a permanent fix.
