SALT LAKE CITY — Amtrak’s California Zephyr will resume its service west of Denver this month, the company announced Tuesday.
Heavy storms in the Rocky and Sierra mountain ranges caused the suspension of western service Jan. 13. Since then, Amtrak has offered service on the route only from Chicago to Denver.
Westbound service is scheduled to resume Jan. 28, and eastbound departures will begin Jan. 29.
The California Zephyr is normally scheduled to operate daily between Chicago and Emeryville, Calif., with stops in Omaha, Denver, Salt Lake City and Reno, Nev.
Until the line opens, passengers ticketed to go beyond Denver will be offered refunds.
