Leeper, Mo. — The driver of a tractor trailer rig was slightly hurt on November 26 after his truck was hit by an Amtrak train in southeast Missouri.
The accident involving the “Texas Eagle” happened in Leeper, about 140 miles southwest of St. Louis.
The train left San Antonio yesterday en route to St. Louis and then Chicago.
Missouri troopers are trying to figure out whether the truck was stuck on the tracks, or if the driver didn’t see the oncoming train.
Trucker Charles Cooper of Harrisburg, Illinois, suffered non life-threatening injuries.
One passenger on the train suffered bruises and was treated and released at a hospital.
The train did not derail.
Amtrak sent a replacement train to pick up St. Louis passengers bound for Chicago.
The company is helping other Texas Eagle passengers reach their holiday destinations.
