OMAHA, Neb. — Officials say a passenger train carrying 154 people has derailed about 20 miles west of Omaha near Gretna, but no injuries are reported.
Amtrak spokeswoman Tracy Connell says the lead engine of the train derailed at about 11 a.m., but was going slowly enough so that the rest of the train remained on the tracks.
Connell says officials are still determining how to get the passengers from the derailment to their next stop, and will either repair the train or send buses. Buses are expected to be available by 2:30 p.m.
Connell says the 143 passengers and 11 crew members were not hurt, and the train still has power.
The train was heading east toward Chicago.
