ORLANDO — An Amtrak train slammed into a pickup truck along South Orange Avenue in Belle Isle after 4 p.m. Wednesday, WESH NewsChannel 2 reported.

The train struck the back end of the pickup, and one person was inside and had to be freed from the wreckage, officials said.

A total of 104 passengers were aboard the train, which was headed from Miami to New York, Amtrak officials said.

Nobody was hurt on the train, but the driver of the pickup truck suffered a broken arm and is in fair condition at Orlando Regional Medical Center.

The train was scheduled to make stops in Kissimmee, Orlando, Winter Park, Sanford, DeLand, Palatka and Jacksonville. It’s scheduled to arrive in New York Thursday.
