DENVER — Passengers aboard an Amtrak California Zephyr that partially derailed in southeastern Utah yesterday are in Denver, making a brief stop on their way to Chicago.

The Zephyr normally arrives in Denver’s Union Station about seven o’clock each night. But it was delayed several hours after an accident yesterday afternoon.

A wheel on the train’s engine derailed after the train and a truck collided at a railroad crossing.

The 26-year-old truck driver, David Miller of Clifton, Colorado, was killed.

Five people on the train suffered minor injuries.

Investigators say it appears Miller was trying to cross the tracks ahead of the train.
