FAIRFAX, Va. — An Amtrak spokeswoman says a train heading to Florida derailed just outside Washington, causing several minor injuries and delaying the train for about four hours.
Amtrak spokeswoman Vernae Graham says the train derailed about 8:30 p.m. Saturday in Fairfax County, Va. and got under way again about 12:40 a.m. Sunday. Graham says several passengers and crew members suffered minor bumps and bruises.
Graham says the train was not a regularly scheduled train, but a special train headed for West Palm Beach with 712 passengers and 15 crew.
