PORTLAND, Me. — Service on Amtrak’s Downeaster between Portland and Boston is expected to be back to normal Thursday for the first time in nearly two weeks.
The Northern New England Passenger Rail Authority said crews have cleared the tracks in Kennebunk. The line had been impassable after debris tumbled onto the tracks from a buckled overpass on Route 35.
Riders had been taking buses from Portland to Wells, where they would link up with the train.
Downeaster service had been canceled last week because of security concerns linked to the Democratic National Convention in Boston.
