CLEVELAND, December 20 — As prescribed by the Rules for the 2010 BLET National Division Officers Election, National Secretary-Treasurer William C. Walpert has released the verified results of National Division Officers election. A total of 22 National Division Officers and Alternates were chosen in the election.
BLET National President Dennis R. Pierce thanked those who participated in the process. “December 15 was a historic day for our great Brotherhood, because it marked the first time the membership chose their national leadership by a rank and file vote. I thank the nearly 40% of the eligible BLET membership who took the time to become involved in charting our course for the next four years.
“I also want to add a special thanks to our national mobilization network for the excellent job mounting the non-partisan Get-Out-The-Vote campaign over the past few months,” Pierce added. “The last national membership vote we conducted had only a 25% rate of return, and participation was up by nearly 60%, in part because of our mobilization volunteers’ efforts.”
