AMHERST, Va. — Drugs may have been partially to blame in an assault on an Amtrak train that sent a train conductor and three Nelson County Sheriff’s Office deputies to the hospital Thursday morning, Sheriff David Brooks said Friday.
The suspect was arrested, but tried to flee after using his hands or feet to smash the rear window of a police cruiser.
