(The Houston Chronicle posted the following article on its website on December 7.)
HOUSTON, Texas — At least four cars derailed at a Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway Co. train yard in northwest Harris County late Monday, but there was no confirmation about any possible spill from the rail cars or the types of materials involved.
The derailment occurred about 11 p.m. at the train yard in the 7900 block of Fallbrook, near the Sam Houston Tollway and Tomball Parkway.
Early dispatches indicated that eight cars had been derailed, but only four cars were seen on their sides at the accident side.
Neither fire department nor Burlington railroad officials at the accident site would comment about the accident or disclose what type of materials were carried inside the train cars.
More than an hour after the derailment, heavy equipment was sent to the scene to right the lopsided cars.
There were no reported injuries or neighborhood evacuations.
