WASHINGTON, D.C. — Metro-North official Stephen Neville’s voice wavered Thursday as he recounted the day nearly six months ago when tragedy struck the New Haven Line near Bridgeport, referring to it as the “worst day of my career.”

Neville, Deputy Chief of Train Operations and a 27-year employee of Metro-North, was a featured witness on the second day of the National Transportation Safety Board’s hearings into two railway accidents that occurred on Metro-North’s New Haven Line in May.
