CLEVELAND, July 19 — Members of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen will convene in Atlantic City, N.J., for the 74th annual convention of the Eastern Union Meeting Association (EUMA), August 20-24, 2012.

Arrangements Chairman Matt Kronyak has planned and organized what promises to be a truly memorable EUMA experience for BLET members and their families.

Members can download a PDF registration form from the BLET National Division website. The registration fee is $160, which includes all breakfasts, a luncheon and the banquet.

Brother Kronyak has secured a discounted room rate of $129 per night, which is good August 19 through August 23. Early arrivals are welcome on August 19. Registration begins on August 20 with a welcome reception that evening.

The convention kicks off with opening ceremonies on August 21, followed by a closed meeting for BLET members in the afternoon.

Members will enjoy the annual EUMA golf tournament on August 22, which will be held at the Atlantic City Country Club. Golf registration forms are available on the BLET website. For non-golfers, EUMA is providing discount coupons for families to the Ripley’s Believe It or Not attraction, the Atlantic City Aquarium, and the IMAX Theater. Also, arcades, discount shopping, and the famous Atlantic City Boardwalk are also available.

Workshops will be held on August 23, with training courses for Secretary-Treasurers, Local Chairmen and Legislative Representatives. There will also be a Safety Task Force/ Hazardous Materials training workshop and a Mobilization workshop. The 2012 EUMA is also offer a passenger and freight Hours of Service Workshop as well as an informational course regarding whole body vibration with Dr. Eckard Johanning.

The 2012 EUMA will conclude with a banquet the evening of August 23.

Chairman Kronyak has arranged for a unique, one-of-a-kind fundraiser for the EUMA Scholarship Fund. Brother Kronyak commissioned artist Anthony E. Boone, a former BLET member who currently works as a trainman for Conrail, to create a one-of-a-kind painting in honor of the Brotherhood’s upcoming 150th anniversary. Called “America’s Backbone,” Boone has graciously donated the painting to the EUMA so that it may be sold in a silent auction with proceeds going to benefit the EUMA Scholarship Fund. Boone’s work is on display in the Prudential Building and other prominent areas throughout New Jersey.
