LOS ANGELES — See Australia’s favourite icons from the comfort of your own private train.
Scheduled to commence in April 2004, Ozback Explorer Rail Cruises is a fully packaged 16-day tour of the highlights of Australia.
Ozback Explorer’s itinerary will cover Australia’s icons and much more – from Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Canberra, Melbourne, Adelaide – including the wine regions and Kangaroo Island, Flinders Ranges, Ayers Rock, Alice Springs, Katherine, Kakadu, Darwin, and the Great Barrier Reef as an extension. Shorter components are also available.
The Ozback Explorer operates as a mobile hotel, saving precious vacation time by travelling at night when guests are sleeping. This allows them to awake each morning fresh and ready to enjoy a full day of discovery.
“The most obvious advantage in this style of touring is that travellers will save about 40 percent of their holiday time that is normally wasted relocating from hotel to hotel, town to town, packing and unpacking each day,” says George Milaras, Ozback Explorer’s owner and developer.
Ozback Explorer transports its own air-conditioned sightseeing mini-buses at the back of the train. Each day, guests are taken on their selected excursions, chosen from a range of options on the itinerary.
“We will carry five 18-seater sightseeing vehicles on board. This gives us the additional advantage of offering a variety of day touring options, all guided by specialists sharing their extensive knowledge of nature, history, culture and heritage of each local area.
“Furthermore, the three daily touring options provided by Ozback Explorer assist guests to tailor-make their own itinerary with freedom of choice,” Mr Milaras said.
“For instance, a couple can split up for the day, one could take an aboriginal cultural tour and the other a bush walk, then meet again for dinner.”
The concept of rail cruising is not new to George Milaras. He successfully operated similar train travel in Southern Africa for 8 years before developing Ozback Explorer in Australia.
Catering for up to 90 passengers, fifteen specially trained staff will provide personalised service on board. Ozback Explorer is a fully inclusive tour providing accommodation, train transportation, daily-guided tours, transfers (in Sydney & Darwin) all entry fees and breakfast daily.
