BALTIMORE — Baltimore Mayor Martin O’Malley will spend some time Monday discussing magnetic-levitation trains with an expert from China.
The mayor will host Wu Xiang Ming, the vice chairman of the Shanghai Mag-lev Transportation Development Company. China uses a high-speed mag-lev train similar to one being proposed as a link between Baltimore and Washington.
The Maryland Transit Administration is seeking approval for a nearly $5 billion project to build a mag-lev system between the two cities. The project requires authorization from Congress and approval from the Federal Railroad Administration.
